Auch kann mit dem Wort "Bildung" zugleich Verschiedenes ausgedrückt werden. Einerseits kann Bildung die Norm der zu erreichenden Bildungsziele meinen und die Vorstellung wie denn ein gebildeter Mensch beschaffen sei (Menschenbild), andererseits auch den Prozess des Erlangens von Bildung oder des "sich Bildens". Aufbauend auf die Annahme des Zusammenwirkens von Menschenbild und Bildungsbegriff wird in dieser Arbeit nach dem Verständnis von „Bildung“ in der Psychoanalytischen Pädagogik gefragt. Das spezifische Menschenbild der Psychoanalyse mit der Grundannahme/dem Paradigma des dynamischen Unbewussten lässt erwarten, dass auch der psychoanalytisch-pädagogische Bildungsbegriff spezifische Elemente und Merkmale aufweist.

Zunächst erfolgt eine Einführung in historische Menschenbilder, sowie in historische Bildungsbegriffe und deren Zusammenhänge. Es wird das Menschenbild der Psychoanalyse umrissen, wobei zu beachten ist, dass die Psychoanalyse nicht als homogene Einheit existiert, so wie auch in der Erziehungswissenschaft nicht ein gültig festgeschriebener Bildungsbegriff aufzufinden ist.

Nach Erläuterung der angewandten Textanalysemethode und dem zugrundeliegenden Wissenschaftsverständnis werden dreizehn psychoanalytisch-pädagogische AutorInnen vorgestellt. Diese sind in der Untersuchung durch 24 Texte repräsentiert, in denen nach den Elementen eines möglichen psychoanalytisch-pädagogischen Bildungsparadigmas geforscht wird.

Die vielfältigen, in der empirischen Untersuchung herausgearbeiteten Aspekte von Bildung werden in der Folge zusammengeführt, sowie zusammenfassend mit den dahinterliegenden Menschenbildern und dem historischen Kontext in Beziehung gesetzt, um sie für weitere Forschungsvorhaben aufzubereiten.
